Isabel Ermida

Isabel Ermida is Full Professor at the Department of English and North American Studies of the University of Minho, at Braga, Portugal. She holds a PhD in English Linguistics on a linguistic approach to literary comedy (2002) and is currently the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Minho. Besides humor, she has dedicated her research activity to the study of the discursive and pragmatic strategies of English language usage in communicative contexts, as is the case of online hate speech, one of her present interests. Her publications include The Language of Comic Narratives: Humor Construction in Short Stories (Mouton, 2008).
